Who we are
BorderReady is a Shopify app operated by [Legal entity name — e.g. ClearBorder Labs LLC] ("we", "us", "our"), registered at [business address]. This policy explains what information BorderReady collects when a merchant installs it on their Shopify store, how it's used, and how it's protected.
What BorderReady accesses
When a merchant installs BorderReady, Shopify grants the app access to a limited set of data needed to run compliance scans:
- Store information — your store's domain, name, and basic account details provided by Shopify during installation.
- Product catalog data — product and variant titles, descriptions, SKUs, weights, and any existing country-of-origin, HS code, or material values already set on your products.
BorderReady does not access, request, or store your customers' personal information — no customer names, addresses, emails, order history, or payment details. The app's scans operate entirely on your product catalog, not on customer or order data.
How we use this data
- To run compliance scans that identify products missing required customs information.
- To let you review, edit, and bulk-apply corrected values, which are written back to your actual Shopify product and variant records.
- To keep a history of scans and applied fixes inside your own account, so past changes can be reviewed or undone.
- To generate CSV exports of your catalog or specific issue types, at your request, for your own use (for example, sharing with a customs broker).
We do not sell, rent, or share your store's data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is not used to train any third-party AI models.
Where data is stored
BorderReady's application data (scan history, catalog snapshots, and applied fixes) is hosted on Gadget, our application platform provider, on infrastructure located in [data center region, e.g. the United States]. Access to this data is restricted to your own store — every merchant's data is kept fully separate from every other merchant's.
Data retention
Scan history, findings, and fix history are retained for as long as your store has BorderReady installed, so you can review past activity. If you uninstall BorderReady, your store's data is [describe your actual retention/deletion behavior — e.g. "deleted within 30 days" or "retained for X days in case of reinstallation, then deleted"].
GDPR and data subject requests
BorderReady implements Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks (customer data request, customer redact, and shop redact). Because the app does not collect customer personal data in the first place, customer-related requests are acknowledged with no customer data to return or delete. Shop-level data is deleted in accordance with Shopify's requirements when a store uninstalls the app.
Your choices
- You can review everything BorderReady has recorded about your catalog at any time from within the app.
- You can undo any applied fix, which reverts the value in Shopify itself.
- Uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin revokes its access to your store immediately.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of BorderReady after a change means you accept the updated policy.
